The jobs we love and hate

It doesn't matter what your freelancing specialism is, jobs from clients can still be broken down into types. Freelance Switch has handily drawn up a list of 20 freelance jobs and how to identify them.

I've run into pretty much all these over the last few years. That said, type 18 I always refuse. I've been offered a fair number of dodgy jobs since I went freelance, a good number of them being asked to write for plagiarism sites.

I only once did a 2 - never again. You learn the hard way how to spot them in future. Likewise the 3.

My favourite clients are a 6. The jobs may not always be interesting but they pay well and that's important when you need regular income.

I'm still waiting for a 1 and a 19...

An excellent list - very well summarised. And I like the look of the links at the end of the page, too (what kind of freelancer, what kind of client). I'm too busy to look right now though because . . . I'm a freelancer and all my clients at the moment are of the 'want it right now' persuasion!

lol...
Couldn't agree more...

Somethimes I think freelancing sucks! and that I can't stand it anymore...

But all it takes is for me to get a full time one or a long to medium term contract and I can change my mind really quicklly...

Don't mind me... I'm just all stressed out again with the lack of what to do... or worse... the plenty of what to do and no meanins to do it...

aaarrrrgh! don't u hate it when your bit of a job depends on someone else to do theirs?

@Juliet - Ah, me too! I use Bloglines as my RSS feeder and I've got about 40 posts ticked as "keep showing" so I can look at them properly when I have time. Only problem is, some of them have been sitting there several months...

@urbanvox - ah yes, one good contract for a decent length of time can make such a difference. It;s the ones in between that suck. And I too really hate depending on others to do my job...
